Know where you stand: official lemon law and warranty sources, plus a free repair-record tool
If a vehicle keeps going back to the shop, two things usually matter: what your state's official page says, and whether your records are complete and in date order. This site helps with both. It does not tell you whether you "have a lemon", and it is not a law firm.
State rules
Official lemon law pages by state, with what each says and when we last checked.
Repair log tool
Enter repair visits and see days out of service and visit counts. Runs in your browser; nothing is saved or sent.
Records checklist
What official sources say to keep: repair orders, dates, calls, receipts.
Federal warranty basics
What the FTC says about warranties, independent repairs and service contracts.
Arbitration
How state and manufacturer programs are described by state agencies.
Used cars
"As is," implied warranties and which lemon laws cover only new vehicles.
Why this exists
People searching about repeated repairs often find law-firm marketing pages or out-of-date summaries. This site starts from the official source for each fact, shows the link and the date checked, and says plainly when a state has not been verified yet.
Important limits
- Deadlines can be short. Some official pages describe filing windows measured in months. Do not wait to read your state's official page.
- This site does not collect VINs, names, or case details. Please do not send any.
- It is one of several free resources, not the only or best one. The FTC and your state attorney general or consumer agency are good places to start.
